Monaco United have done it. At the end of an exceptional season, Marco Simone’s players have officially secured promotion to the Regional Division after winning their two-legged playoff tie against Étoile d’Aubune. A well-deserved reward for a club that had made promotion its top priority since its creation.
“I have experienced many things in football, as a player, a coach, and an executive. But creating a club from scratch and seeing it grow so quickly brings a unique feeling. Today, watching our players become champions, seeing the club earn promotion to the Regional
Division, and witnessing the enthusiasm building around Monaco United is an extraordinary reward. This season, we built far more than a team: we built a family. » — Marco Simone, President and Head Coach of Monaco United Women’s Football Club

Unbeaten throughout the league campaign and authors of a consistently dominant season, the Monegasque side deservedly finished at the top of the standings. One final hurdle remained—the most important one of all: the promotion playoffs, the last obstacle on the road to the Regional Division. Standing in their way was Étoile d’Aubune in a decisive two-legged playoff tie. It was a crucial challenge that Monaco United approached with confidence, while maintaining the concentration required to achieve the objective set from the very first days of the project.

A One-Sided First Leg
Last week, Monaco United welcomed Étoile d’Aubune to their home ground for the first leg of the promotion playoffs. Quickly proving superior in every area of the game, Marco Simone’s players delivered a performance of the highest quality. Dominant, creative, and clinical, they created numerous chances before securing a commanding 10-1 victory. The result provided a considerable advantage heading into the return leg.
However, the message was clear: remain focused, preserve the team’s unbeaten record, and secure another victory to conclude the season in the best possible way.

Professionalism Until the Final Whistle
This Sunday, Monaco United travelled to Étoile d’Aubune for the second leg. Despite difficult playing conditions caused by the state of the pitch, the Monegasque players perfectly executed Marco Simone’s instructions. He had emphasized the importance of starting strongly in order to control the flow of the match.
Within the opening minutes, Alicia Sweye broke the deadlock with a superb strike, giving Monaco United an early lead. Remaining faithful to their playing identity, the team imposed its rhythm, technical quality, and collective philosophy.
Since the club’s creation nearly a year ago, Marco Simone has worked to develop an ambitious, collective, and attack-minded style of football. Once again, the squad demonstrated its ability to reproduce these principles regardless of the circumstances.
Monaco United quickly doubled their advantage before pulling further away, heading into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

A Collective Celebration Until the Final Whistle
The advantage allowed the coaching staff to rotate the squad so that every player could take part in this historic occasion. The approach reflected the team spirit that has driven the group since the beginning of the season.
After the break, the players continued at the same pace. A fourth goal arrived quickly, illustrating their determination to keep pushing forward despite qualification already being virtually secured. Étoile d’Aubune managed to reduce the deficit late in the game, but two
additional Monaco United goals definitively settled the contest. Final score: 6-1. With two emphatic victories across the playoff tie (10-1 and 6-1), Monaco United officially secure promotion to the Regional Division for next season.
“Above all, it is an immense source of pride. When we created Monaco United, many people saw it as an ambitious project, but few imagined that we would achieve our first objectives so quickly. This promotion is the reward for the daily work of our players, staff, volunteers, and everyone who believed in us from day one. Beyond the sporting achievement, I am especially proud of the way we achieved it: through values, respect, commitment, and a genuine footballing identity. This promotion is important, but it is only one step in the construction of a much larger project.’’ Marco Simone

A Sporting and Human Success Story
Beyond the sporting achievement, this promotion carries special significance. Less than a year ago, everything had to be built from the ground up: a squad to assemble, chemistry to create, a footballing identity to develop, and a team culture to establish.Over the months, Monaco United built far more than a successful team. The club created a true collective united by strong values, remarkable cohesion, and a team spirit widely praised by everyone involved. This bond, visible both in daily life and during away trips, translated onto the pitch through performances of the highest standard.
“We have enjoyed a fantastic season, with tremendous commitment from both the players and the staff. We are extremely happy with what we have achieved, and we hope to continue this momentum in the Regional Division. The playoffs, both home and away, were excellent performances. We applied the principles of play that allowed us to reach this level, and once again they proved successful. We needed to remain faithful to our identity throughout the season without ever changing our habits, and we succeeded in imposing our style of play. It has been an exceptional journey, and I am incredibly proud of the entire squad.’’ Houleyemata Deme, Captain of Monaco United
The 2025–2026 season will remain forever etched in the history of the young club, featuring:
-
- District Championship Title
- Marenco Cup Title
- Mediterranean Cup Finalists
- And above all, promotion to the Regional Division, the primary objective established at the launch of the project
“What makes me happiest is the spirit within this group. We brought together players from different backgrounds, yet they all embraced the same vision. Every day, I see a united and selfless team that works hard and improves continuously. Monaco United was created to build something sustainable, innovative, and unique in women’s football. This promotion is a magnificent achievement, but above all, it marks the beginning of our story.’’ Marco Simone
Monaco United therefore conclude their 2025/2026 campaign in the best possible fashion. Unbeaten and ambitious, Marco Simone’s players have written the first major chapter in the club’s history through this promotion to the Regional Division and, above all, through the creation of a squad determined to climb the football pyramid as quickly as possible and, together, reach the highest levels of the game…
