The Monegasque captain is one of the five players nominated for the UNFP award for the best player in Ligue 1 Uber Eats as well as among the players likely to be part of the team of the season, along with the French international midfielder.
Named the league’s best player in January, Wissam Ben Yedder will compete with Kylian Mbappé (PSG), Lucas Paqueta (OL), Martin Terrier (Stade Rennais) and Dimitri Payet (OM) for the title of best player of the season. The name of the winner will be revealed on Sunday May 15, during a ceremony organized at the Pavillon Gabriel in Paris.
A record for goals in a league season
It’s just reward for the native of Sarcelles, who recently played his 100th match in La Diagonale, and who, with 21 goals scored in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, has already beaten his personal record for a league season. Last Sunday, against Angers, he was again decisive, scoring the second Monegasque goal against SCO (2-0).
Wissam Ben Yedder’s influence does not stop in domestic competition, though, as the Monaco captain has also scored two goals on the European stage and five in the Coupe de France this season. With 28 goals and 6 assists in 49 official matches, the captain has impressive statistics. A Monegasque for less than three seasons, he is already one of the top ten scorers in the history of the Club.
Aurélien Tchouameni among the nominees for the team of the season
Aurélien Tchouameni, winner of the UNFP award for the best young player of the season at the end of last season, is part of the list of players who hope for a place in the 2021-22 team of the season.
This season, Aurélien Tchouameni has once again been one of the key players for this Monegasque team. With 47 matches played, he is the second most-used player in the squad, behind Alexander Nübel. His impact, his technical quality in build-up play and his impressive ability in ball recovery have made him one of the most impressive midfielders in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.
A special moment at La Turbie
Both were winners of the Nations League with the France last October, and they received this Tuesday morning at the Performance Center at La Turbie their award from Manuel Piumi, Director of Communication for the UNFP.
The two players then posed with the entire staff and their teammates to collectively celebrate this individual distinction.
