#hello_monaco weekend: what to do on 30 and 31 December

Holiday season continues in the Principality. And here we’ll suggest you some interesting things to do on this very special weekend, apart from other ideas for the New Year’s  that we’ve already shared with you.

Starting this Friday for the first time ever, the Casino de Monte-Carlo will play host to Jimmy’z on 29, 30 and 31 December.

Jimmy’z Sporting Monte-Carlo, Monaco’s famous temple of nightlife, will be turning the heat right up in the Casino’s Salle Médecin to see the year out in style.

As the decks start spinning and the bartenders mix their first cocktails, the temperature will really begin to rise… A party atmosphere is guaranteed over all 3 nights!

The programme for these 3 unforgettable evenings features live DJs, dancers, an artistic performance and a unique display of contortion skills!

"The Taming of the Shrew"

In the Grimaldi Forum Monaco this weekend is an epic ballet created by Jean-Christophe Maillot in 2013 for the Bolshoi dancers, The Taming of the Shrew. It was awarded three 3 Masques d’Ors (best choreographic show, best male dancer (Petruchio) and best female dancer) and is currently on a world tour. The play that is now touring the world returns to Monaco, re-appropriated by Jean-Christophe Maillot for the dancers of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

The Taming of the Shrew” by Jean-Christophe Maillot performed by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Foster is on Friday 29, Saturday 30, Sunday 31 December at 8pm in Salle des Princes.

With over 300 performances and one million spectators in over 33 countries, PIAF ! LE SPECTACLE has been France’s biggest international success since 2015! In culmination of a two-year world tour, on 6 January 2017 PIAF ! LE SPECTACLE was presented in a sell-out show in the most prestigious venue in the world: New York’s CARNEGIE HALL. The show celebrated the 60th anniversary of Édith Piaf’s mythical concert in 1957.

With an original scenery, the show consists of two 45-minute acts and narrates the story of EDITH PIAF’s career through her unforgettable songs. Previously unreleased images of the artist’s life are projected onto the back of the stage. Four exceptional musicians accompany Anne Carrère.

Concert – “Piaf ! Le spectacle” (“Piaf! The Show!”) is on Saturday 30 December, at 8 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier.

Price: 62,50 € per person.

Africa Eco Race

For its 10th edition, the Africa Eco Race will welcome a record number of competitors. More than a hundred vehicles, nearly 200 riders, drivers and co-drivers, will start from Monaco on December 31st. The big favorites of the event will be at the “rendez-vous”: Vladimir Vasilyev, winner in Car category in 2017, Gerard De Rooy in the category Truck and Pal Anders Ullevalseter with his KTM bike. However, many other could come and tickle them.

Start of the “Africa Eco Race” African Rally Raid” (Monaco – Dakar) on Sunday 31 December, at 9 am Quai Antoine Ier.

New Year’s Eve in Monaco

And the center event of this weekend is of cause New Year’s Eve Festivities with DJs and fireworks at midnight on Sunday 31 December, from 9 pm to 3 am Port de Monaco.

And if you want to spend some time outdoors, go to the Christmas village in Port de Monaco. This year’s theme is “Father Christmas’s Workshops”. There are lots of fun things to do and to eat or drink and your kids can make a photo with Santa.
