Weekend in Monaco with #hello_monaco
Looks like this weekend in Monaco is all about music, but there are sure some other things to do in the Principality as well.
You can start your weekend on Friday with a Beginning of the “Musical Journey” Concert of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Grimaldi Forum on
For the opening of its new season, the MCPO will begin its “Musical Journey” with Kazuki Yamada, who will lead his orchestra accompanied by Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky and the Choir of the Orchestre de Paris. As an opening to this concert, you will hear “Gigues”, an extract of Claude Debussy’s “Images”, then Franz Liszt’s Concerto for Piano #1 and “Totentanz” with, in closing, “Daphnis et Chloé”, a choreographic symphony for choir and orchestra. With this program, the OPMC will pay homage to Claude Debussy for the centenary of his death, as well as to Maurice Ravel for the 80th anniversary of his death. Liszt’s Piano Concerto #1 is one of his most famous works and “Totentanz” is known as one of the most difficult scores for the piano. Virtuoso pianist Boris Bererezovsky is the ideal interpreter for them. The magical character of “Daphnis et Chloé”, a vast musical fresco, will enchant you with its infinite diversity in rhythms and colors. This concert has been organized with the generous support of the Friends of the Orchestra. Tickets are available online.
On Saturday 23 September, at 8 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier will host a Recital by the Lyric Academy of the Monte-Carlo Opera with Kira Parfeevets and David Zobel, piano, organised by the Monte-Carlo Opera. Free admission.
For children this weekend there is a Concert for a Young Audience by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Geoffrey Styles with Alasdair Malloy, narrator on the theme of “Animaux en folie” (“Crazy about Animals”) on Sunday 24 September, at 3 pm Auditorium Rainier III. Tickets are available at €5.
Both for kid and adults from Sunday 24 till Friday 29 September, Monaco Art School – Pavillon Bosio presents “Mischief and Dreams” (“Belles & Chimères”) – an exhibition based on works by children attending public workshops at Monaco Art School – Pavillon Bosio.
And do you know that on Sunday 24 September, Principality of Monaco will have the 22nd European Heritage Day on the theme of “Unique Heritage,” organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs.
European Heritage Days provide access to thousands of rarely opened sites and unique events to over 20 million people every year.
During the European Heritage Days, doors are opened to thousands of monuments and sites (some of them normally closed to the public), allowing people to enjoy free visits, learn about their shared cultural heritage and become actively involved in the safeguarding of Europe’s heritage for present and future generations.
