Opera and theater, sports and stamps… This weekend is rich in diverse and interesting events and here we selected the most interesting ones.

I Puritani

Classical music is represented this weekend by “I Puritani” by Vincenzo Bellini with Celso Albelo, Annick Massis, Gabriele Viviani, Erwin Schrott, Marina Comparato, ln-Sung Sim, Enrico Casari, the Chorus of the Monte-Carlo Opera and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Domingo Hindoyan (concert version), organised by the Monte-Carlo Opera on Sunday 3 December, at 3 pm and Wednesday 6 December, at 8 pm Auditorium Rainier III.

For its closing evening, on Saturday 2nd December at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo, the festival has chosen Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Opening act: The Puppini Sisters.

Many bands have been formed in a garage, but this one was created in a basement: in this case in the basement of the house of the New York pianist Scott Bradlee in Queens with a few musician friends who liked to play the hits of the moment rearranged in various musical genres. They’re clamored for on four continents, and since then they have been spreading their love of the hits accommodated to the vintage sauce.

Christmas concert

Another music event is a Christmas concert by talented young artists organised by the Ars Antonina Association on Saturday 2 December, at 6 pm Théâtre des Variétés.

This year, Ars Antonina Association is inaugurating an award at Christmas Concert 2017 to recognize among the young students selected for this concert, the one who deserves a stay in the International Summer Academy abroad. For this award named “Jacqueline Ollier Award” in memory of the founder of Ars Antonina, a jury of professionals was selected. Visiting Mr. Green

And theater is waiting for you with a few pieces, the first one is “Visiting Mr. Green”, contemporary theatre by Jeff Baron with Jacques Boudet and Thomas Joussier on Friday 1 December, at 8.30 pm, Saturday 2 December, at 9 pm and Sunday 3 December, at 4.30 pm in Théâtre des Muses.

Ross, young executive, hits with his car Mr Green, an old man of 86 years. Accused of dangerous driving, he is sentenced to six months of visits to the old man every week to help him in his daily life. Widowed, Mr Green lives recluse in his apartment. Only a few habits connect this practicing Jew to life.

When Ross knocks on his door for the first time, he is received as an intruder. His good intentions are put to the test, Mr Green is not the most accommodating. But by dint of habit and perseverance, the young man will gradually tame the misanthrope.

"The Legend of a Life"

The other piece is “The Legend of a Life” (“La Légende d’une Vie”) with Bernard Alane, Natalie Dessay, Gaël Giraudeau and Macha Méril on Sunday 3 December, at 5 pm in Théâtre Princesse Grace.

Vienna 1919. A young author seeks to extricate himself from the memory of his father, a poet who became a national icon. He suffocates in the family home where everything is organized by his mother around the cult of the great man. It is then that a woman returns there whose secret could free the young man from his straitjacket.

Football Match: AS MONACO vs. ANGERS SCO

For those who like sports don’t miss the French Premier League Football Championship: Monaco – Angers on Saturday 2 December at 8 pm, Stade Louis II.

Roca Team vs Chalon-sur-Saone

Another game is also on Saturday: PRO A Basketball Championship: Monaco – Chalon-sur-Saône on 2 December at 5 pm Stade Louis II – Salle Omnisports Gaston Médecin.

Open-air skating rink in Port de Monaco

Open-air skating rink is opening this Friday 2 December and will welcome you till  Sunday 26 February in Port de Monaco.
