The 8th Eco Awards took place recently at the Grimaldi Forum, where seven companies and their managers were honoured and awarded for their contribution to the influence of the Monegasque economy.
During a ceremony that brought together the major players of the Principality’s economy, the Minister of State Serge Telle presented the Special Prize to Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile-Club of Monaco (ACM), for the Monaco Grand Prix, which has just celebrated its 90th anniversary.
“The Grand Prix is indicative of the love story between the Principality and millions of motor racing fans,” said the Minister of State. “It is also the beautiful story of a country that prepares and lives the Grand Prix, animated by all the talent of the ACM with its teams at the heart of the success of the event”.
The International Influence Prize, awarded by Jean Castellini, Minister of Finance, went to the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and its Director Jean-Louis Grinda. This ambassador of Monegasque cultural excellence triumphs on the biggest stages of the world.
The Manager of the Year award, presented by Jacques Boisson, Secretary of State (representing HSH Prince Albert II) went to Frédéric Darnet, Head of the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort since February 2016. “I am very proud to receive this award that I dedicate to my colleagues, because a manager is nothing without his team and the confidence that it shows him every day by giving the best of itself to satisfy a demanding clientele and give meaning to the vision of the Monte-Carlo Group Société des Bains de Mer: to offer the most exclusive experience in Europe,” said Frédéric Darnet.
Four other trophies were awarded to entrepreneurs from the Principality, who are all extremely talented in their respective sectors and who successfully promote the Monegasque economy:
