The Oktoberfest takes place near the center of Munich, in an open area of 42 hectares. To preserve the family character of the festival, a carnival and eateries are installed around the tents. The Oktoberfest is the biggest fair in the world.

The Festival was Created on 17th October, 1810 during celebrations that followed the wedding of the future King Ludwig 1st of Bavaria to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on the 12th October, 1810.
