1. Yvan Griboval terminates at Monaco his around the world expedition
On Friday, 2 June, at 10h00, HSH Prince Sovereign Albert II of Monaco held out the mooring ropes to navigator Yvan Griboval who arrived at the pontoon of honour of the Yacht Club of Monaco on board the OceanoScientific Explorer “Boogaloo” (a 16-meter / 52.5-foot high-performance mono-hull sailboat), at the end of 152 days of a single-handed round-the-world tour, over a total distance of 35,230 nautical miles (65,246 km). Having set off from this very quayside, the navigator – explorer was determined to return to the point of departure. He had entrusted his mooring ropes to the Sovereign Prince on November 17 at the same place, underlining his wish to return to his starting point: the Monegasque club whose flag he flies.
2. Key Figures: results of the Monaco census
Census statistics results in the Principality of Monaco were presented recently at the City Hall of Monaco by Mayor Georges Marsan and Lionel Galfré, director of the IMSEE.
The figures of the census of the Principality carried out in 2016 have just been released. According to estimates by the Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE), 37,308 people resided in the Principality on 7 June 2016. This corresponds to 5.5% more than in 2008, at the time of the last census. Or an overall increase of 10,000 inhabitants in three decades.

Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Charlene of Monaco were at “Riviera Water Bike Challenge” (RWBC) held at Monaco Yacht Club on June 4, 2017. RWBC is a 21 km relay race between Nice and Monaco and held for the first time this year. Prince Albert joined the race as a contester. Princess Charlene could not join the race because of a light injury in her wrist, she watched the race and presented awards to the winners.

Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) first rose to fame in the early 1960’s as the drummer for the legendary rock groupThe Beatles, and to this day is still the richest drummer of all time. As well as playing the drums, Starr was also a talented singer and songwriter for the band, occasionally singing lead vocals, in songs such as “With A Little Help From My Friends” and “Yellow Submarine”, as well as writing the songs “Don’t Pass Me By” and “Octopus’s Garden”.

The Principality of Monaco has launched a transoceanic exploration vessel that will traverse the world’s oceans while providing a research platform for dozens of scientists who try to gain a deeper understanding of the blue planet.
