This year the 114th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters will be held from Saturday 10 April to Sunday 18 April, at the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is one of the oldest tournaments in the world of tennis. Previously known as the “Monte-Carlo Tennis Championship”, the famous competition on clay originated in 1897. It is now part of the Masters 1000, a category of events organised by the ATP that includes nine tournaments staged annually in Europe, North America and Asia. This year’s tournament took place from behind closed doors, in accordance with the latest government measures which extend the state of health emergency until June 1st, 2021. The top 5 men in the world have all signed up to battle it out: Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsisipas. Add to that two players, Fabio Fognini (2019) and Stan Wawrinka (2014), who have won it in the past and you have a gladiator arena any tennis sponsor would die for.

This Grand Prix Historique will mark the 12th edition of this prestigious event in the Principality. During two and a half days, all competitors will share their passion for high level motor racing with thousands of fans — on a mythical track where 80 % of the straight lines and turns are exactly the same as in 1929, and still used every year for the most glamorous Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship. Despite all current sanitary protocols caused by the pandemic, 170 competitors have entered the event. The diversity and richness of the field will allow celebrations of the greatness of the Ferrari brand, and in particular its very first win in the Formula 1 World Championship, by Argentine’s Froilan Gonzales in 1951 on the Silverstone track. Six models that belong to the legend of motorsport will be visible and active on the mythical Monaco track.

It has become a tradition that Formula E alternates with the Historic Grand Prix of Monaco and takes place on the territory of the Principality every two years. For the first time, the race of these ‘electro-bolides’ will take place on the full Formula 1 track. Hopefully, the familiarity of the home location will lead the Monaco team to an epic victory. Reigning champion Antonio Felix Da Costa (DS Techeetah) heads the 24 Formula E stars visiting Monaco in May. Among the drivers lining up for Season 7, some notable names have already experienced the challenging streets that skirt around the famous waterfront, including former Formula 1 drivers Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team) and Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team).
