Unprecedented: 1.2 million euros in play for two poker tournaments at the Casino de Monte-Carlo

The ultimate in luxury and the “Grand Pinnacle” of the Game took up its summer quarters at the Casino de Monte-Carlo with a big weekend dedicated to Texas no-limit hold’em poker on June 22 and 23 with a total prize pool of 1.2 million euros.

Organized with the help of the World Series of Poker® (WSOP) these two tournaments were outstanding successes and marked a first for the Casino of Monte-Carlo. Welcomed for this occasion were players from all over the world who are clients of the most important of SBM’s casinos. To win the Holy Grail, the prize of 1 million euros on June 22 and 200,000 euros on June 23, players had to qualify beforehand. The qualifications started on May 8th and ran until June 21st.

A first for the Casino de Monte-Carlo

The goal of the game is to make the best possible combination of 5 cards among the 7 that the player has. The thrill of seeing and playing this game of No Limit Texas hold’em poker seized the Casino of Monte Carlo. After the success of the Poker Cash Games series with the World Series of Poker® (WSOP) last May, the Casino continued to delight its players with these 2 poker tournaments held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June in the sumptuous Salle Medicin. The highlight of the weekend took place on Saturday at 5pm when 60 participants played to try to win the € 1 million prize pool, a first for the Monte-Carlo Casino that is bringing poker to the Pinnacle of the Game, played in ultimate luxury. A second tournament brought together 46 players the next day with a prize pool of 200,000 euros. There was a festive atmosphere guaranteeing emotional highs for what was a unique gaming experience.

The Prize Pool of the tournament of June 22 was distributed as follows:

1st 500 000 €
2nd 200 000 €
3rd 100 000 €
4th 50 000 €

with 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th prizes of € 45,000, € 40,000, € 35,000 and € 30,000 respectively.

Exceptional tournaments to develop and retain customer loyalty

To gain access to these two tournaments it was necessary to show a white insignia plus the My Monte-Carlo card and 150,000 “My Monte-Carlo” Loyalty Points generated between May 8 and June 21, playing table games at the prestigious Monaco casinos: Monte-Carlo Casino, Sun Casino and Casino Café de Paris. My Monte-Carlo is the SBM Group’s loyalty program, launched in January 2018 with the Monaco casinos and open since April 2019 to all Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer establishments. This program now has more than 26,000 members, who benefit from exclusive VIP experiences and benefits.

This event was a real and growing success: just after 40 players had qualified on the morning of June 21, a wave of players played late into the night to obtain the required 150,000 Loyalty Points, increasing the number of qualifiers to the June 22 tournament to 60 players. Many countries were represented: 5 Russians, 7 Americans, 2 English, 1 Austrian, 1 Bosnian, 1 Bulgarian, 1 Chinese, 5 French, 2 Israelis, 21 Italians, 1 Lebanese, 1 Dutch, 1 Polish, 2 Swedish, 3 Turkish and 1 Ukrainian. The majority were loyal customers of SBM who had travelled for the occasion but also there were 8 new customers, who were playing for the first time in Monaco casinos and are now loyal.
