Prince Albert II and the Monaco House attend the World Economic Forum in Davos
All eyes were on a small town in the Swiss Alps during the World Economic Forum, where President Donald Trump gave a speech, labelled by the BBC as “charming yet offensive” via a webcam from the White House, while Prince Albert II gave a tender speech calling for the protection of our oceans.
On 23 January, the Sovereign travelled directly to the “Monaco House”, where the rest of the Principality’s delegation was waiting for him. Prince Albert II was then engaged in a series of conferences on innovation, the blue economy and the Principality.
More than 400 participants from 50 different countries attended the event. Monaco House hosted 14 conferences with 30 speakers, including HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain, Clarisse Magnin, Managing Director of McKinsey France and Larry Summers, Economist and former Secretary of the Treasury of the United States.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene attend the Funeral of Didier Guillaume
Moments before Prince Albert II left for Davos, he and Princess Charlene attended the funeral of Didier Guillaume on 23 January at the Cathedral. Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo were also in attendance. Didier Guillaume served as the Minister of State of Monaco from 2024 until his unexpected death on 17 January at the age of 65.
Monaco pays Tribute to Didier Guillaume with a Minute of Silence
Multiple tributes to Didier Guillaume have taken place across the Principality since the Minister of State’s death. On Monday 20 January, a minute of silence was observed at 11am, signalled by sirens across Monaco. A chapel of rest was set up in the Chapel of Mercy on the town hall square. During the minute of silence, all members of the government stood in front of the Ministry of State alongside Béatrice Frecenon-Guillaume, the widow of Didier Guillaume. A stone’s throw away, in front of the Palace, the carabinieri observed the minute of silence in the rain.
Earlier in the morning, Prince Albert II attended a traditional mass commemorating Saint Sebastian, patron saint of the Carabinieri, where a tribute was paid to the Minister of State. The solemn mass, presided over by the Archbishop of Monaco, Monsignor Dominique-Marie David at the cathedral.
Happy 68th Birthday, Princess Caroline!
Princess Caroline of Hanover celebrated her 68th birthday on 23 January 2025. Princess Caroline Louise Marguerite of Monaco was born in 1957. She is the Princess of Hanover through her marriage to Prince Ernst August. As the eldest child of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, she was Hereditary Princess of Monaco and heir presumptive to the Monegasque throne from her birth until her brother Albert was born the following year, and again from Albert’s accession in 2005 until the birth of his twins, her niece Gabriella and nephew Jacques, in 2014.
Happy 47th Birthday, Princess Charlene!
Princess Charlene celebrated her 47th birthday on 25 January 2025. Born in Zimbabwe in 1978, the celebrated Olympic swimmer met Prince Albert II in 2000. The pair celebrated a lavish wedding in 2011. Princess Charlene has had a very busy birthday week and is expected to make a public appearance with her family for the upcoming St. Devote Day celebrations.
Prince Albert II presents the Insignia of Commander to the widow of Didier Guillaume
The day before Didier Guillaume’s funeral, Prince Albert II received Didier Guillaume’s widow, Béatrice Frecenon-Guillaume, to present her with the insignia of Commander of the Order of Saint Charles, which she accepted on behalf of her late husband. The Prince said that he was deeply affected by Didier Guillaume’s death and that he was a man of commitment and heart. His unexpected death took place just four months after he was sworn in as Minister of State.

When Didier Guillaume was sworn in back in September 2024, Princess Charlene, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella attended this ceremony. The Order of Saint-Charles is the highest distinction in the Principality.
Princess Stephanie and Prince Albert’s teams Face-off during the Fight Aids Football Cup!
Prince Albert’s Barbagiuans played against Princess Stephanie’s Cirque FC team during the 5th edition of the Fight Aids charity football match on 22 January 2025 at the Stade Louis II. Princess Stephanie’s son, Louis Ducruet, was among the celebrities and former football stars who played in the annual match and charity event. Louis Ducruet is the president of the Prince’s Barbagiuans team. French footballer, Patrice Evra, was the patron of this edition and played among the Barbagiuans while Christian Karembeu played for the opposing team.




Prince Albert II and Princess Stephanie took to the field to kick off the match with a ball exchange. Camille Gottlieb was also in attendance and cheered on the teams. Princess Stephanie’s team, Cirque FC, won the match with a score of 5-4 against Prince Albert II’s Barbagiuans.
