1. International Bouquet Contest in Monaco
The annual International Bouquet contest was held in Monaco, Fontvieille, on June 10 -11, it was organized by the Garden Club of Monaco with the support of Princess Caroline.
This year, the Fontvieille space hosted 128 participants (35 more than in 2016) from 8 countries: Monaco, France, Italy, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Portugal and Spain. According to Caroline Calais, Secretary of the Garden Club, many participants returned to the competition after a 10-year break. This was an opportunity for them to show their respect for Princess Grace and her magnificent idea of the garden club, as well as once again testify their own love of flowers.
2. Monaco’s First Member of “The Billionaire Donor Club”
Sir Stelios is the Principality’s first member of billionaire donor club ‘The Giving Pledge’.
“Money for philanthropy must come from somewhere,” said Sir Stelios, in his office at his foundation in Monaco, with a good-natured smile. The man who helps Europe fly at low costs (founder of easyJet) decided to bequeath half of his fortune to his charitable foundation: “When one makes money in business, at some point, one must give something back,” Especially since he believes that much of his success comes down to luck: “I inherited my father’s fortune, a Greek maritime tycoon from Cyprus, and I was lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to start a business that has done much better than I could have hoped.”
3. New “Odyssey” of Joel Robuchon and Heinz Beck
When one star chef meets another star chef, it gives way to a unique collaboration. This will be the case this summer at the Odyssey Restaurant that overlooks the Hotel Métropole swimming pool; everyday at 4pm, the Heinz Beck crew will switch with Joël Robuchon’s team and will seasonally offer a dinner concocted by the German maestro of Italian cooking.
4. Monaco Pavillion in Astana attracts attention
This year Kazakhstan will host the grand universal Expo, with about a hundred countries participating, and almost five million visitors expected to flock to the over 25 hectares of land.
For three months, countries, international organisations and enterprises will exchange ideas on the current energy issues in the Kazakh capital. The Principality intends to put forth its expertise in the field of renewable energy, particularly in terms of their relationship with the ocean.
5. Bonsai Expo 2017: in Harmony with Nature
This weekend the Principality of Monaco has yet again welcomed bonsai enthusiasts from different corners of the globe to take part in the Monaco Bonsai Expo 2017, from the 9th to the 11th of June, under the High Patronage of S.A.R. Princess of Hanover. As always, the event takes place in the beautifully serene and prestigious location of the Jardin Exotique, with this year’s theme being “The Beautiful Mornings of June”, organised by the Mairie de Monaco in partnership with the established Bonsai Club of Monaco.
6. Monaco celebrates Sea Festival
Sea Festival will be once again held in Monaco, Port Hercule on Saturday June 17th on the occasion of Saint Pierre day, the patron of fishermen and sailors who have disappeared at sea.
Animated by songs from the Children’s Heart of the Monaco Rainier III Academy of Music, this day will offer many activities for the whole family: a giant slide, introduction to sailing, sea kayaking or kite surfing, paddle workshop, diving baptisms, waterbike or water bubbles for the youngest participants…, with a nautical parade between the two ports of Monaco.
7. Housing in Monaco: Market Overview
Monaco is the most expensive property market in the world, according to a recent report by the international real estate company Savills: in 2016, the average resale price was $45,360 (or 41,400 euros) per square meter, compared with $42,840 (or €39,100) per square meter in Hong Kong and $31,994 (€29,200) in Tokyo, the next-most-expensive markets.
8. Off-nominal situation with water in Monaco
The government advises those living in apartment buildings to stop drinking tap water – an off-nominal situation before water filtering work is carried out.
Monday evening, the residents of the apartment building ‘Les Jardins d’Apolline’, were advised to stop drinking the tap water as well as stop using it for cooking. The water may still be used for hygienic purposes, such as brushing your teeth and cleaning your home.

Prince Albert II speaks at the UN’s Ocean Conference
The Sovereign reiterated his determination to mobilize the international community during the Ocean Conference at the United Nations Headquarters. An event which Prince Albert II, who is particularly sensitive to this cause, could not fail to attend. The Sovereign clarified the need to “reconcile humanity and the sea”.
