The Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) recently unveiled two new spaces for its employees: the Monte–Carlo SBM Academy (an in-house training centre) and a new employee dining area. Stéphane Valeri, Chairman of the SBM, and Sophie Vincent, the Group’s Human Resources Director, inaugurated the two new spaces on the 11th floor of the “Aigue-Marine” headquarters on 1 October 2026.

According to a recent press release, the SBM Academy “builds on existing efforts to attract and retain talent—and to develop employee skills across the Group’s 130 different professions”.

The dedicated training centre spans 226 m² and was conceived and designed by the Saguez & Partners firm. The facility features an open-plan area, several offices, and three training rooms, enabling 40 employees to undergo training simultaneously on a daily basis.

“Through the Monte-Carlo SBM Academy, Monaco’s largest private employer aims to strengthen and develop its employees’ skills, ensure the transfer of expertise and the continuity of the Group’s 130 distinct professions, and ultimately guarantee the exceptional customer experience,” said the SBM in a recent press release.

In 2025–2026, over 1,700 staff members benefited from at least one training course provided by the SBM at no cost. With the SBM Academy, the Group intends to bolster and expand its employee training and professional development programs. The Group ultimately aspires to broaden its range of in-house certification courses and open them to external participants.

One year ago, the Group launched its e-learning platform, offering employees SBM-developed modules. Now, the SBM Academy offers training courses across 20 categories. Some of the courses are certified by outside institutions. For example, the “Trainer in Practical Arts” certification program was launched in partnership with EHL Hospitality Business School and aims to equip future trainers with pedagogical tools needed to teach others.

New dining area for employees

Also designed by Saguez & Partners, the new dining area—named “Espace Marie Blanc”—was named by the staff through an internal contest. Spanning 327 m², the brand-new facility features two dining zones with a total of 113 seats, a lounge area, and a dedicated space for meal deliveries provided by an external SBM partner. It is now open seven days a week.

“Fully equipped, light-filled, and versatile, with a stunning view of the Rock and the sea, the venue offers a warm, contemporary, and welcoming atmosphere,” says the SBM.

The décor incorporates iconic elements from SBM establishments, such as historic stained-glass windows from the Café de Paris, and a mosaic floor of natural stones.

According to the SBM, the Group’s 5,000 employees (rising to 6,000 during peak season) enjoy “exceptional working conditions, including classes in yoga, muscle strengthening, and stretching; workshops on reflexology and meditation; naturopathy consultations; chair massage sessions; and programs focused on preventing eye strain and breast cancer”.

“These benefits are complemented by various annual bonuses, such as profit-sharing, social bonuses, and the Grand Prix bonus for eligible staff. Seasonal employees also have access to accommodation within the 334-bed housing stock,” says the SBM.
