#hello_monaco weekend: what to do on June 16th and 17th

Today in the Principality starts the 58th Monte-Carlo Television Festival and this weekend it will be in the limelight. But there are some other events that caught our attention.

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival

Under the honorary presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the 58th Monte-Carlo Television Festival will open at the Grimaldi Forum on Friday June 15th, with an ultra-glamorous ceremony, featuring an exclusive preview screening of a TV program.

Free entrance and Open to the public, it also offers audiences the chance to meet international stars, attend TV series “Behind the Scenes” conferences, public screenings and autograph signing sessions. The program promises red-carpet ambiance, prestigious evening events and VIP cocktail parties. The Golden Nymphs competition – featuring the best in TV programming from around the world, will reveal the 2018 winners at the Golden Nymph Awards Ceremony, on Tuesday June 19th, in front of an audience of more than a thousand special guests.

Originally created by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, and now under the Honorary Presidency of Prince Albert II of Monaco, The Monte-Carlo Television Festival has, for more than half a century, presented the very best of television from around the world. The Festival has also been at the forefront in showcasing the highly talented professionals associated with many of the most successful programs in the history of the medium.

Water-bike challenge

On Sunday, June  17, 2018 Monaco will host the Riviera Water Bike Challenge (RWBC) in support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. The 21 kilometres between Nice and Monaco will be travelled on Schiller S1 water bikes.

The venue is the Yacht Club and a water-bike challenge, racing 30 times between Yacht Club and the Musee Oceanographique for a total of 20 kilometres. Figure on a two-and-a-half-hour marathon event. The vehicle of choice the Schilller S1-C water bike mounted on a catamaran style coque.

Also this weekend  continues the fourth Monaco Artists’ Forum, till 17 June 2018, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Rainier III Auditorium. The Forum is an exhibition featuring artists who are Monegasque nationals or who have been resident in the Principality for more than five years. It will be open to the public, free of charge, every day between 2 pm and 7 pm.

The Forum is an exhibition of Monegasque art and sculpture and is a wonderful platform for visual artists who are Monegasque nationals or who have been a resident in the Principality for more than five years. Open to the public each day between 2 and 7 pm, and a «Public Prize» will be announced at the culmination of the event. The artist who receives this award will be allowed to continue to display their work at the Rainier III Auditorium. The Monaco Artists’ Forum is part of the desire of the Prince’s Government to promote visual arts within the Principality, to highlight the vitality of local artistic creation in the field of visual arts and as a matter of cultural policy, to integrate and leverage the efforts of all Monegasque artists for the benefit of everyone.

 

The nightlife in the Principality has its own special charm, that blooms thanks to the incomparable discos of the world level, including parties at Jimmy’z that particularly stand out. In connection with the renovation works, the epicenter of Monaco’s club life was closed for 6 months. After a long pause, the opening ceremony of the nightclub Jimmy’z finally took place. Here is your program of performances for this weekend :
