The brilliant Sharon Stone at the Monte-Carlo Gala: actress and activist

The famous American actress Sharon Stone has been the centre of attention of Monaco’s fashionable social events this autumn. The star was invited to the annual Monte-Carlo Gala for Planetary Health and the long-awaited premiere of the latest film about James Bond, “No Time to Die”. However, the reason for the celebrity’s visit to the Principality is not just the gala receptions, but also her long-standing friendship with Prince Albert II.

Guest of honour at the Monte-Carlo Gala

On 23rd September, the film star was the guest of honour at the 5th Annual Gala Monte-Carlo for Planetary Health. This time, the gala was held in Monaco’s historic centre, the Prince’s Palace. The special evening dedicated to the well-being of our planet was traditionally attended by the world’s elite: philanthropists, scientists, famous actors, actresses, models and musicians.

During her brilliant career in Hollywood, Sharon Stone has not only managed to win many honourable awards, becoming the Oscar winner for the best actress and a true legend of world cinema, but also remained not indifferent to environmental issues and social and humanitarian problems of humanity.

In recent years the actress has been actively involved in women’s empowerment. On that evening, Prince Albert II of Monaco personally presented her with the Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sharon Stone has always managed to find time in her busy schedule between filming, social events and raising three sons to realize her projects. Her role as producer in the documentary, My Name Is Water contributed to both awareness and funding towards clean water, wells, rainwater harvesting structures, and more in rural Sub-Saharan, Africa. She has been honoured by the international community with the Nobel Peace laureates summit Peace Prize, Harvard Humanitarian Prize and Einstein Spirit Award.

At the Gala of the 5th Annual Gala Monte-Carlo for Planetary Health, the celebrity’s speech left no one indifferent. Sharon Stone reminded the Gala audience that walking past a plastic bottle in the street should instead turn into a simple act to pick it up and recycle it.

“It is a joy and an honour to share this evening with my long-time dear friend and compatriot His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco. We have known each other our entire adult lives and once again our friendship deepens as we share this common goal. It is with great humility that I accept this honour to serve at His command,” Sharon Stone stressed in her speech, recalling her special bond with the Principality.

In her speech and in reference to the health of our world and ourselves during the pandemic, Ms. Stone stated, “One of the things that happens most directly during these times that we stay alone is that we understand the importance of being present. When you see what’s happening to our environment, we understand most predominately what being present in ourselves and in our world means.”

Along with Sharon Stone, Princess Caroline of Hanover, actor Orlando Bloom, actress Pom Klementieff, French actor Gaspar Ulliel, singer Julian Lennon, actress Melanie Laurent, Brazilian supermodel Isabel Fontana and many others appeared on the red carpet of the 5th Monte-Carlo Gala for Planetary Health in Monaco this year.

The next day, the world’s tabloids were full of photos of Sharon’s striking image. For the important event in the Principality, the guest of honour chose a dress of a rich purple hue. A crinoline strapped black strapless hem, which fell like a purple cloud onto the red carpet. The look turned out to be both sophisticated and daring at the same time. The short haircut added a touch of rocker chic, and the petite satin handbag from the famous design house made the outfit elegant.

Together towards a common goal

Sharon Stone has a special fondness for the Principality of Monaco. The actress has been friends for many years with Prince Albert II and frequently visits the French Riviera. In her speech at the Gala, she emphasized that she and the Prince have enjoyed a warm relationship throughout their adult lives which becomes stronger every year, due to their mutual concern for the environment.
