Prince Albert and Princely Twins take a Canoe Trip in Dordogne and other news

Prince Albert II and His children explored the Dordogne region, at the foot of several castles, in a canoe. On Saturday 28 August, the Princely trio flew aboard the family’s new private jet, a Falcon 8X to experience a calming respite on the river.

Local canoe rental company Roquegeoffre was very proud to give a guided canoe trip to the sovereign prince of Monaco. The Prince and the twins were able to admire the Dordogne valley from the river with stunning views of the Montfort, La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Fayrac, Beynac and Les Milandes castles. The canoe and tour company posted photos of Prince Albert, Jacques and Gabriella with the caption, “Thank you for this visit and until next year for the 28 kms tour!”

Prince Albert, Gabriella and Jacques visit Trinity College Dublin

On 3 September, Prince Albert II of Monaco, his children, Princess Gabriella and Crown Prince Jacques visited Dublin. Prince Albert visited Irish President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina Higgins at the presidential residence.

Afterwards, Prince Albert visited Trinity College Dublin with his children to mark his major donation to the historic library. An unveiling ceremony of a frieze with the names of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene on the University’s Benefactors Wall at the entrance to the Trinity College Dining Hall took place. A frieze containing the name of Prince Albert was also unveiled in the Gallery of the Long Room of the Old Library alongside the founding donors to the Library.

Princess Charlene taken to Emergency Hospital Care in South Africa

On the night of 1 September in South Africa, after feeling unwell, Princess Charlene was taken to emergency care and hospitalized in Ballito, about 40 kilometres from Durban. According to a press release from the Prince’s Palace, the Princess is “in a reassuring state” and is being closely monitored.

According to the brief press release, the discomfort was caused by complications due to a serious ENT infection from which Princess Charlene has been suffering for several months. On 13 August, she underwent another surgery in South Africa. Her recovery was made happier by a recent visit from Prince Albert II and her children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

“I am so thrilled to have my family back with me. (Gabriella decided to give herself a haircut!!!) Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it,” Princess Charlene wrote on Instagram on 25 August.

Prince Albert II expresses “immense sadness” at Death of two Monaco firefighters

In the late afternoon of 31 August, four of Monaco’s firefighters were on a motorcycle ride when they crashed with a vehicle. The accident killed Sergeant Stéphan Hertier and Sapper Mathis Canavese.

Minister of State, Pierre Dartout, and the Counsellor Minister for the Interior, Patrice Cellario, showed their support for the Fire Brigade by visiting the barracks of la Condamine.

In a press release from the Prince’s Palace on 1 September, Prince Albert II said that after he learned of the death of the two Monegasque firefighters, he feels “immense sadness”. The Sovereign also wishes the other two injured firefighters “a speedy recovery”.

Liberation of France: Prince Rainier III remembered by Algerian infantry in Monaco

Prince Albert II received, on 1 September, a delegation of around 30 members of the 7th Algerian infantry regiment. They fought alongside Prince Rainier III during the Second World War, for the liberation of France.

Welcomed in the gardens of the Prince’s Palace, the former comrades of Prince Rainier III visited his tomb in the cathedral before heading to the foot of his statue at the top of the Rampe Major. The group also took advantage of the trip to visit the Oceanographic Museum.

In 1944, Rainier III enlisted in Nice alongside the French army as a foreign volunteer. He joined the 7th Algerian infantry regiment of the French African troops and took part, in particular, in the Alsace campaign. Prince Rainier III was released from his military obligations in 1946 after receiving the Croix de Guerre and bronze star.
