Monaco Strikes Gold Again as Grimaldi Forum Doubles Up

Monaco has returned from London with another piece of gold and this one is becoming something of a habit.

The Grimaldi Forum Monaco has been named Best Overseas Convention Centre at the 2026 M&IT Awards, taking Gold for the second consecutive year. It shared the top honour with Spain’s PortAventura Convention Centre, ahead of major venues in Dublin, Barcelona, Palma and Amsterdam.

The distinction carries particular weight because the winners are chosen by professional event organisers based in the United Kingdom, with results independently verified. It is therefore a direct vote of confidence from the people deciding where major international events should take place.

Two Races, Two Qualifying Battles: Monaco’s Grand Prix Weekend Raises The Stakes

For generations, the Monaco Grand PrixTM has followed a familiar formula: build towards qualifying, fight for every millimetre on Saturday and then race through the Principality on Sunday.

In 2027, the event is pressing fast-forward.

For the first time, Monaco will host a Formula 1TM Sprint, squeezing another competitive race, and another qualifying session, into a weekend already famous for leaving drivers precious little room for error.

The 84th Monaco Grand PrixTM will be staged from June 3–6, with Formula 1 action beginning on Friday June 4 as Round 8 of the 24-race World Championship. It will also form part of the Formula 1TM biggest Sprint programme yet, with the number of Sprint weekends jumping from six in 2026 to ten.

And if there is anywhere where extra qualifying has the potential to produce drama, it is Monaco.

From Monaco with Love… and Another Famous Victory for Monegasque Tennis Hero Vacherot

@Manuel Vitali-Direction de la Communication

A year ago, Valentin Vacherot was still trying to force his way through tennis’s crowded outer ranks. Today, when he beats a former world No. 3, it no longer feels quite like an upset.

Monaco’s extraordinary tennis story acquired another chapter in Tokyo on Friday as Vacherot fought back from a set down to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas 4–6, 7–6(5), 6–4 and reach the quarter-finals of the Japan Open. It was the sort of victory that has increasingly become Vacherot’s trademark: stubborn, patient and achieved the hard way. And for followers back home in the Principality, there is something particularly satisfying about watching the transformation. The player who spent years battling through Challengers and qualifying draws is now walking onto major ATP courts as the world No. 18 — and looking as though he more than belongs there.
