Prince Albert II drives Viral YouTuber GMK’s Mercedes to kick off Grand Prix and other princely news

GMK, a Monegasque resident and YouTuber with 1.56 million subscribers, let Prince Albert II take the wheel of his Mercedes car on 28 May.

“To open the F1 Grand Prix, the Prince of Monaco drove my C63 AMG Black Series on a closed circuit !!” wrote GMK when he released his video, which has already amassed 500,000 views in one day.

Three weeks after having interviewed the Sovereign on the Place du Palais, the video is now online. Georges Maroun Kikano (GMK) was proud and giddy to sit beside Prince Albert II, who put the pedal to the metal and reached speeds of 147 km/h.

When GMK asked the Prince what style of car does he prefer, Prince Albert II responded by saying: “The collection that was started by my father is a bit of a reflection of what I look for in a car. Cars that have a history or a link with the Principality or with my family. But I also like a Lamborghini, Ferrari, of course, Porsche is very beautiful, and Mercedes. Both old and modern cars that bring emotion,” said the Prince in GMK’s new video.

Princely Family at 79th Monaco Grand Prix

Several members of the Princely family came to Monaco to enjoy the 79th Grand Prix. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were at the practice and qualifying round on 28 May. On race day, Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and Their children Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques presented the winners with their trophies during the podium ceremony.

Mexico’s Sergio Perez won this year’s Grand Prix, with Carlos Sainz in 2nd, Max Verstappen in 3rd place and Monaco’s Charles Leclerc in 4th. Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo, Princess Alexandra, her boyfriend Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, Andrea Casiraghi, Tatiana Santo Domingo, Charlotte Casiraghi and Raphael Elmaleh all attended Monaco’s 2022 Grand Prix.

Prince Albert II attends Launch of Grace Influential Impact Award

Prince Albert II attended the launch of the Grace Influential Impact Award, held aboard the Azzurra II yacht at Port Hercule. The President of the Princess Grace-USA Foundation, Brisa Carleton, spoke about the award during the launch. Greg Maffei, president and CEO of Formula 1’s parent company Liberty Media, was also present for the launch.

The special award will be given to one Formula 1 team during the Monaco Grand Prix next year. The trophy will be created by world famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. The Grace Influential Impact Award will reward the team which had the most positive impact of the season, based on several criteria including: sustainability, philanthropy and education.

Prince Albert II and Prince Jacques attend World Stars Football Match, with Charles Leclerc

Prince Albert II and Prince Jacques had a father-and-son’s day out when they attended the 29th World Stars Football Match at the Louis II Stadium on 22 May. The world’s best F1 racing drivers played against footballers from the AS Star Team for the Children for charity. The Princely duo looked sharp in matching suits as they greeted and congratulated all the players at the end of the match, which ended in a 3-3 tie, before handing the trophy to both teams.

Monaco’s own Charles Leclerc, as well as Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz Jr, Pierre Gasly, Maro Engel and Lucas Di Grassi all rose to the challenge to form the F1 Team. The racing stars played against a team composed of Monegasque footballer Greg Campi, Brazilian footballer Sonny Anderson and French footballers Vincent Candela and Jeremy Menez. After two years of absence due to the pandemic, the crowd was overjoyed to watch the exciting game. Aside from the three thousand fans who watched from the stadium, Sky Sport HD broadcast the entire match live for fans around the world.

Princess Charlene and Princess Gabriella present Monte-Carlo Fashion Week Award

Princess Charlene and Princess Gabriella attended the 10th Monte-Carlo Fashion Week Awards ceremony at the Salle Garnier of the Opera de Monte-Carlo on 24 May. Princess Charlene and Princess Gabriella presented the Emerging Designer Award to Abdul Al-Romaizan, designer of Ramzen.

Before the event, Princess Charlene shared a photo of herself hugging her daughter, Princess Gabriella, with the caption, “I loved every moment preparing my Princess for her first official event. We’re looking forward to a great evening at the fashion awards.”
