Princess Grace International Gymnastics Gala: world champions put their best foot forward to celebrate sport

Since its foundation, in 1979, a unique contest, strongly desired by H.S.H. Princess Grace, has been bringing out the best athletes’ skills in gymnastics. An Olympic sport capable of valuing both women and men sports abilities, at the same time. The Fédération Monégasque de Gymnastique (Monegasque Gymnastics Federation) carries on this tradition with passion. The 2019 Princess Grace International Gymnastics Gala, held at Stade Louis II on the 30th November and 1st December 2019 left its mark, not surprisingly. A very special edition of this annual top Men and Women gymnastics tournament, under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, was devoted to Princess Grace’s 90th Anniversary.

Abu Dhabi Sets the Stage for a Barnburner 2020 in Formula 1: LeClerc versus Vettel, LeClerc versus Verstappen

The most interesting action in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was for second and third place in contention between Charles LeClerc and Ferrari, Max Verstappen for Red Bull and Valeri Bottas for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton’s dominance for first place was never in doubt including his sixth world drivers’ title. He had led from pole position and pulled away for an easy win. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took second in the end after being overtaken by LeClerc earlier in the race. After that early good placement in second position Ferrari with LeClerc lost ground. Charles remounted an attack later but Verstappen rebuffed it.

Lancaster Cosmetics Employees go on Strike

Around 60 workers employed at the Lancaster Cosmetics Monaco went on a strike against proposed job cuts by the company. Employees of the Monegasque cosmetics brand have been mobilized since Monday and will be on strike until further notice for better conditions in the context of the announced layoffs.

A Gigantic Safety Project for the Rainier III Tunnel Planned for 2020 to 2026

Do you remember that twenty years ago, a refrigerated lorry burst into flames in the middle of the Mont-Blanc tunnel. Thirty nine people were killed leading to a major European overhaul of safety standards – which means that the Rainier III tunnel (completed in 1994) needs to be upgraded with a pedestrian escape route in case of emergency. Cross fingers the escape route will never have to be used.

One Tree for Every Birth in the Principality Counts Towards “Plant for the Planet’s ” a Billion Trees

On November 29 a highly symbolic planting was organized by the Monaco City Hall and the National Forestry Office (ONF) as part of the 12th edition of the operation “one birth = one tree“. It was in the middle of the morning, in the commune of La Turbie near the “Dog’s Head”. The Mayor and several members of the Municipal Council – Jacques Pastor, Claude Bollati and Mélanie Flachaire, assembled with Frédéric Dreyer, Head of the Territorial Unit Paillon -La Roya for the NFB.

In just over two months, the Principality will once again become the circus capital of the world with twin attractions the 44th International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, as well as the 9th New Generation Festival (1st and 2nd of February 2020). The New Generation Festival is the only competition in the world totally dedicated to young artistes and taking place in an authentic circus ring.
