An Extra One Million Euros for the Monaco Red Cross and Vulnerable Children

It’s not every day that a donation of one million euros arrives at the Monaco Red Cross. So when the Fidinam International Charity Foundation donated € 1,000,000 this October to the Monegasque Red Cross to support local initiatives for children and youth in Monaco – it gave room for celebration of how it could expand the horizons of what could be done for children.

The Conseil National Passes the Budget Amendment while Raising Concerns about Quality of Life

It’s a hive of activity and even a little noisy inside the Conseil National as the representatives express themselves. Compared to the vote on the future budget for Public Works which went awry earlier this month and failed to pass, this following session of the Conseil National to amend the current 2019 budget went a little bit more smoothly. The Public Works budget in the prior session had triggered the airing of grievances over all the building taking place in the Principality and the impact of noise on the quality of life. The debate on the amendment of the 2019 budget, passed in its initial form last December, did at least garner sufficient votes this last week. But the same vociferous debate played out before the majority of representatives even as they supported the amendment.

Monaco Men and Women Qualify Well for the World Coastal Rowing Finals

The World Rowing Coastal Championships took place in Hong Kong, China. 2019 is the very first year it has been held in Asia. With an impressive 500 rowers, this event is the biggest coastal championships outside of Europe. The athletes come from 27 coastal rowing nations, including Monaco, and were racing from 1-3 November 2019.

7th International Piano Competition: Two Musicians play One Instrument

This year, the 7th International 4-Hand Piano Competition welcomed sixteen young pianists from Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Ukraine and China. The first part of the competition was held in the Rainier III Academy auditorium.  Eight duos, who are about 20 years old, took part in the high-calibre and unique competition.

F(ê)aites de la Danse will make Monaco dance again in 2020

After its popular success a few years ago, the incredible interactive dance festival F(ê)aites de la Danse will be back in Monaco on 4 July 2020. Conceived by Ballet de Monte-Carlo choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot, the first event brought together more than 28,000 people for a night of dancing on the Place du Casino.

Monegasque Nationality: New Bill doubles Marriage time to 20 years

A bill to amend the current legislation on nationality was unanimously signed by Monaco’s national councillors. The bill sets out to raise marriage time from 10 to 20 years in order to obtain nationality, with the objective of limiting the number of Monegasques.
